I live in Harrogate and believe them to have no interest in light pollution and how it affects those living here. The local council recently installed a sodium street light at the front of my house that now shines into my bedroom window. They are not bothered and have done nothing on my complaints. It is a sodium light where the tube is vertical rather than the traditional horizontal types and seems to cast even more light in all directions. If they had consulted the residents they would have found that we were happy for lighting but only if they'd used modern low light pollution varients. Good luck with your petition.
