all quiet on the western front

It’s been really quiet at work this week. I work in an office that normally has 6 people in it. This week there has been only the one person - me. Everyone else is on holiday or out visiting another site. Of course I’ve got loads of work done - notwithstanding the interruptions caused by answering the phone for six people. But it is rather lonely.

Still, it meant I could listen to the cricket all day today without anyone complaining. Even down to Aggers and the rest of the TMS team wittering on about how many first class cricketers share their name with cathedral cities. I can just imagine the bewildered looks that would’ve elicted from my colleagues. :-)

Had a hell of a shock last night when I checked my bank balance. Where does all the money go? However, there was a nice surprise this morning when I received a cheque for £79.68 from BT in settlement of my old account with them. I’m still well short of cash though. I’ll be eating nowt but rice and lentils for the rest of the month I think. Well, I expect I can stretch to the odd pint of beer - one has to cater for the essentials in life after all. Come to think of it, I also have some raspberries that need eating up. So I’d better force myself to eat them with ice cream tonight. Woe is me, etc, etc.
