musical meme

What would a blog be without some silly meme to pass the time? This is a musical meme spotted over at Neil’s World:

Total volume of music files on my computer: Zero mb. That’s right, there is not a single teeny-weeny music file on my computer. I am officially living in the stone age. Or perhaps that should be the “plastic and aluminium age”, as all my music is stored on cds.

The last CD I bought was: “All Maps Welcome” by Tom McRae. And very good it is too. I especially like “Strangest Land”.

Song playing right now: None. I’m listening to the Radio and the news is on at the moment. Apparently some Policeman who was hurtling down the road at 159mph in his new police car has been let off the speeding offence. It seems he was “just testing” the car. Hmm.

Five songs I listen to a lot, or that mean a lot to me:

  1. “My Drug Buddy” by Lemonheads
  2. “Secret Love” by Ry Cooder and Manuel Galban
  3. “London Still” by The Waifs
  4. “I’m Set Free” by The Velvet Underground
  5. “Make me a pallet on your floor” by Gillian Welch

Did you hear Ry Cooder on Front Row tonight? Excellent stuff.

Tom McRae has a new album? Excellent!

I really need to figure out an easy way to get a heads-up when my favourite artists release new material.

Ry Cooder was on Front Row? Blast, missed it. I wonder if Front Row is available on the beeb’s website. Ry Cooder is the most wonderful guitarist.

David, I pick up on new releases by poking around a very good little record shop here in Harrogate. The owner has rather good taste and so prominently displays the latest releases by all the best artists. It’s very handy.

Re #3: What? You actually, like, go outside and use a facility in the *gasp* real world? It’s a novel notion, I’ll give you that. ;)
